The ‘Global Identity Infrastructure Summit’ is a follow-on event to London Business Conference’s successful 'Global Border Control Technology Summits' which were held in March 2006 and July 2005, and attracted an overall total of 300 international participants.
The September summit will discuss the creation and maintenance of national registers and databases, and the specific issues relating to data management and data integration. Keynote speakers from, for example, The UK Identity and Passport Service, The Information Commissioners Office and the DHS Privacy Office will be discussing the issues of data protection, privacy, use of the information and the more practical and technical aspects of the management of biometric databases including data storage, access control, fraud prevention, data sharing and providing an identity verification service to third parties. Examples from Spain, USA, Belgium, Middle East, Hong Kong, Scandinavia and Latin America will be presented to provide the audience with a real understanding of the drivers behind government identity schemes.
Every deployed solution is different because every country has different requirements, cultural issues and legislation. But while these factors vary from country to country, the summit will focus on common challenges relating to the development and ongoing management of government ID programmes, analyse solutions that have been delivered in other countries and identify what the key success factors are.
Our panel of top international speakers with experience of implementing identity management schemes will be talking about what worked for them, why, and what they would do differently with hindsight. The event will be of major interest to any government department involved with new or ongoing data management issues and to EU accession countries looking at developing databases in the future. The summit will help to establish a set of success factors for the delivery of identity management schemes which will help national governments save time and money later.
Topical Issues Being Addressed at the Global Identity Infrastructure Summit Include:
- Making the database and infrastructure as effective as possible: developing interoperability and cross-agency data sharing
- Management of back-end IT systems e.g. data storage, system security management and conformance to data protection legislation
- Business processes required for identity management systems
- Understanding and communicating the benefits of ID systems - building value for end users
- Linking services to schemes
